Operations Lead – Acute & Specialist Mental Health & Addictions Services

  • Senior leadership role with responsibility for Mental Health and Addictions operations.
  • Based in Palmerston North.
  • Permanent, full-time role.

Our client is a leading health entity providing healthcare services across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. Its Mental Health and Addictions Services provide treatment for and connection to recovery-orientated services for individuals experiencing mental illness or addiction issues. Services are delivered across the continuum of lifespan, both regionally and locally, and include specialist community MH&A teams, inpatient services, crisis response, acute alternatives, and specially designed residential programmes.

A current programme of transformational change heralds a fundamental shift in the way services will be delivered and a move towards a wellness and recovery-focused approach in the community that prioritises access, choice, and care closer to home. The change sees significant investment into digital technologies and new infrastructure including the construction of a new “greenfield” state-of-the-art acute inpatient unit.

Reporting to the Operations Executive and working in partnership with the leadership team, the successful candidate will champion this new Integrated Model of Care and lead the delivery of safe, efficient and comprehensive contemporary high quality, person/whānau centered clinical services. An accomplished front line clinical leader, you will grow and develop your high-performing team while contributing to strategic and service planning processes in alignment with the directorate plan and broader health reforms.

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Relevant clinical qualifications in mental health addictions to master’s level and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience within Mental Health Addictions services at a senior management level.
  • Knowledge and experience of integrated care approaches within mental health and addictions.
  • A track record in leading and managing positive change.
  • Understanding of and experience in addressing equity issues across the sector including, but not limited to Māori Health.

In return, you will join an employer offering a professional and supportive culture and team setting and an encouraging learning environment where you will continue to grow and be challenged. Other benefits include tailored wellness programmes and great lifestyle options both through the role and in the region.
