Te Mahau | Te Tai Raro (North Takiwā)

Te Mahau | Te Tai Raro  (North Takiwā) provides services and support for education staff and leaders, ākonga and whānau within Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Te Tai Tokerau (Northland). Te Mahau represents the the porch and entryway of Te Whare o te Mātauranga – a place that is front-facing, accessible, visible and transparent. It is an area of common ground for ākonga to be served and supported by the sector and us.

The primary focus for Te Mahau moving forward is to collaborate and offer leadership and integrated services across the takiwā. By establishing a national service delivery model, Te Mahau will enhance its leadership and capability to efficiently navigate and operate more effectively at the interface of kāwanatanga and rangatiratanga.

Going forward Te Mahau will deliver:

  • A consistent, sustainable and scalable national delivery model across our takiwā.
  • Local, integrated teams that wrap around schools, kura, kōhanga reo and early learning services to design and deliver support.
  • A model that ensures our regions can easily connect to centres of expertise in Te Pae Aronui (Design, Regulatory Practice, Learning Support), Te Poutāhū (Curriculum), Te Pou Ohumahi Mātauranga (Leadership Practice) and Te Pou Hanganga, Matihiko (property and transport) for practice guidance.
  • A stronger commitment to supporting our kaimahi Māori to establish important connections with each other across the rohe, supporting the development and operationalising of regional ‘Rautaki Māori’ strategies, and more generally supporting the uplift of our collective cultural capability and capacity.

To enable these changes the following roles are available at Te Mahau | Te Tai Raro (North Takiwā).
