The Rangitīkei District offers a unique blend of urban and rural living, conveniently located along State Highway 1 and close to both Palmerston North and Whanganui. With recent growth, it has become an important centre for the rural sector and local industries. The Council is seeking its next chief executive who will lead the operations of this medium-sized organisation.
To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • be a senior leader with experience leading a similar-sized operational organisation or business unit;
  • possess well-developed people leadership skills, with the ability to empower and enable others;
  • be a strategic thinker who is community and delivery-focused;
  • have a sound understanding of working with iwi and an appreciation of the rural sector;
  • demonstrate an agile approach to leading through change, especially in the context of upcoming changes within the local government sector; and
  • exhibit strong financial and political acumen.
