General Manager Health Security

ESR is the Crown Research institute that focuses on public health, forensic sciences and contributes to environmental and biosecurity outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand. ESR has expertise in infectious disease surveillance and solutions, as well as pandemic preparedness. An important priority is for ESR to be recognised for Māori-led and co-designed research that will benefit Māori communities.

The General Manager Health Security is a newly formed position that will report to the Chief Executive and be a member of the Executive Leadership Team. The GM will lead the new Health Security Business group, which will bring together two business units to create a strategic focus on human health, strengthening integration of work and opening new research and delivery opportunities.

To be affective in this position, you will be a senior leader who has exceptional people leadership skills. You will have gained experience working in a health operational environment and be well networked in the sector. You will have the ability to build and form excellent relationships across the health system and be strategic in your thinking. An understanding of te ao Māori, tikanga and the principles relating to Te Tiriti o Waitangi will also be important.
