Programme Lead, PacificTA Programme

  • Make real impact and build capability in the Pacific
  • Use your deep local government expertise
  • Wellington based

Taituarā, a values-driven organisation that supports excellence in local government, is seeking an exceptional leader to champion the PacificTA Programme. With many high-impact projects completed over the past 13 years, this MFAT-funded initiative helps build capability in local authorities across the Pacific.

In this role, you’ll shape and lead a respected, influential programme that partners with Pacific Island countries to strengthen local government services. You’ll work at both strategic and operational levels, building strong relationships with Ministers, senior leaders, and technical experts in the Pacific and Aotearoa.

We’re looking for someone with deep roots in the Pacific who brings a lived understanding of the region and extensive networks across Aotearoa New Zealand and multiple Pacific countries. Your ability to travel frequently within New Zealand and internationally across the Pacific is critical to the success of this role, and your availability to do so is essential.

This is an incredible opportunity to:

  • Use your skills and passion for good, in service of Pacific communities
  • Be supported by a respected leader with deep local government expertise and relationships
  • Lead a programme backed by MFAT, with a proven track record of success and momentum
  • Be part of a purpose-driven, values-based organisation where people are connected by shared commitment and mutual trust

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Deep understanding of and experience in local government in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Ability to build effective relationships with multiple stakeholders and communities
  • Insight into Pacific cultural differences
  • Proven leadership, strategic thinking, and programme management skills
  • The ability to foster trusted relationships with senior leaders and diverse communities
  • A heart for public service and values that align with collaboration, integrity, and innovation
  • High availability and willingness to travel regularly within New Zealand and the Pacific
  • Networks across Pacific nations and within Aotearoa would be ideal

This is your chance to combine purpose and expertise in a role that helps communities thrive. If that sounds like you and you’re Wellington based or prepared to relocate, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and lead something special.
