Kapiti Coast District Council is looking for a strategic and collaborative Transformation Lead to help drive sustainable development, recovery, and economic growth across the district. The Strategy and Growth Group at Kapiti Coast District Council leads the charge on sustainable development and ‘good growth’ across the district. This dynamic group brings together key functions including strategy and policy, urban and district planning, strategic housing, economic development, consenting, and investment. Working collaboratively across Council and with external partners, the Group plays a vital role in shaping Kapiti’s future – ensuring growth is resilient, inclusive, and well-planned.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About the role
As Transformation Lead, you’ll report to the Manager Strategic Transformation and take a leading role in delivering strategic advice and driving change across complex, high-impact initiatives. You’ll champion systems-thinking and innovation, lead key projects within the transformation work programme, and support the team’s broader efforts to improve how Council responds to growth, recovery, and development challenges.
This role requires a sharp, strategic mind and excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You’ll work closely with internal teams, iwi partners, and external stakeholders to influence change and deliver meaningful outcomes for the district.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in strategic roles within the public sector, consultancy, or transformation programmes
- Proven ability to support senior leadership and collaborate across teams and stakeholders to develop and implement strategic frameworks
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Experience co-designing with iwi and a sound understanding of Tikanga Māori and te ao Māori in a local government context
- Relevant tertiary qualification preferred
