Tenancy Manager
- Make a difference in people’s lives through housing.
- Opportunity to grow in this role.
- Values-driven, Masterton-based organisation.
Trust House (THL) is a community owned company based in Masterton. The company operates a range of hospitality businesses across Wairarapa, Pahiatua and Flaxmere and owns and manages nearly 500 rental houses across its footprint, providing homes to those in the local community who need them most.
About the Role
We’re seeking a proactive, tenant-focused Tenancy Manager to ensure the smooth day to day management of rental properties. It’s less about knowing tenancy inside out and more about working with people, finding solutions and running an efficient, well-managed service that enhances tenant wellbeing and focuses on maintaining long term tenancies.
As Tenancy Manager, you’ll be part of a supportive, capable team that sits at the heart of Trust House’s housing operations. You’ll build trusted relationships with tenants, stakeholders, and internal teams. You’ll bring a calm, respectful, and solutions‑focused approach to everyday challenges, ensuring tenants feel heard while maintaining strong operational discipline.
What you’ll do
- Manage tenant relationships with a strong tenant‑first mindset
- Support positive, sustainable tenancies through proactive engagement and problem‑solving
- Coordinate property visits, inspections, and follow‑up actions in a structured and organised way
- Manage tenancy processes, documentation, and reporting with care and attention
- Engage professionally with people from all walks of life, including those experiencing vulnerability
- Contribute to continuous improvement and community‑focused initiatives
What we’re really looking for
We’re less concerned about where you’ve worked and more interested in how you work. You’ll be well‑suited to this role if you come from a social services, community housing, or customer‑facing operational environment, where empathy, planning, and clear communication are essential to success.
You’ll bring:
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship‑building skills
- Confidence working with people in complex or challenging situations
- Strong planning, organisation, and follow‑through
- A practical, solutions‑focused mindset
- The ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners
- Sound judgement and professionalism in sensitive situations
- The ability to balance compassion with accountability
An understanding of tenancy environments, housing systems, or property processes is helpful, but people skills, judgement, and operational capability are what matter most.
If you’re motivated by working with people, value dignity and fairness in housing and love being organised, we’d love to hear from you.
This is a Masterton-based role.
