Applications are invited for the prestigious role of Riddet-AgResearch Chair (Professor) in Alternative Proteins, a newly-created position that is funded jointly by Massey University and AgResearch.

The Riddet Institute provides a unique intellectual environment using a multi-disciplinary scientific approach and integrating New Zealand’s expertise across multiple organisations. The Institute is internationally acclaimed and led by scientists of global renown. The new state-of-the-art joint food science facility on the Palmerston North campus, where the position will be based, offers an environment for discovery and learning that is fertile ground for building research capacity. The Riddet Institute’s current students will be the leaders of a prosperous food industry in the future, one that has the ability to develop innovative, healthier foods.

 
AgResearch is one of New Zealand’s Crown Research Institutes. Its purpose is to enhance the value, productivity and profitability of the country’s pastoral, agri-food and agri-technology sector value chains to contribute to economic growth and beneficial environmental and social outcomes for New Zealand.

 
The Riddet-AgResearch Chair will build a new internationally-recognised capability in the rapidly-emerging field of alternative protein biotechnologies, with an emphasis on precision fermentation, synthetic biology or cellular agriculture. The appointee will be focused on developing new collaborations, building cross-functional teams, securing external funding and providing industry leadership in their chosen field. The appointment includes significant base funding for postgraduate students for at least five years.

We are seeking a highly motivated research leader in a relevant discipline with an outstanding track record of high-quality publications and other outputs, and a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior role leading multi-disciplinary teams and supervising graduate students.  Your proven record of establishing and leading successful and enduring collaborations across institutes, combined with your strong interpersonal and cultural capability will further ensure your success in this exciting and pivotal role.
