Our client is a busy Crown Entity dedicated to protecting and preserving the lives, property, and environment of all New Zealanders. They are looking to recruit an experienced senior or principal level business planning candidate who can enhance the planning functions across district, regional, and national levels.

Role Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager Planning, this position sits within the strategy and performance team. You will provide a high level of strategic thinking and planning while working across a wide range of branches within this diverse and unique organisation. You will build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and ask the right questions in order to provide fit for purpose plans that meet the statement of intent.

Key responsibilities include enhancing planning capability and maturity, implementing frameworks for alignment, ensuring strong planning and budgeting integration, providing strategic advice to senior managers, influencing stakeholders, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with national and regional teams.

What you’ll bring:


  • A strong background in planning, strategy, monitoring or policy that allows for a broad overview of a large and complex organisation.
  • Proven experience implementing systems thinking and strategic planning.
  • A relevant tertiary degree or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills, along with the ability to mentor team members.
  • Strong analytical background (both qualitative and quantitative).

The salary range for this role is $134,190 – $141,645.
