Chief Executive

  • Strategic leadership role with future expanded scope
  • Wellington based
  • Influence strategy, policy, and sector performance

The Aggregate & Quarry Association (AQA) represents the majority of New Zealand’s aggregate production and commercial quarries which provide the essential materials that underpin the infrastructure that keeps New Zealand moving.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver on an ambitious business plan and strengthen industry leadership. Working with the board, you will provide strategic direction, lead advocacy on behalf of the sector, and build strong relationships across government, industry, and key stakeholders. A key priority will be increasing the understanding of the sector, elevating AQA’s profile and impact while ensuring operational excellence.

Over time, this role will broaden to include leadership responsibility for MinEx, the national health and safety council for extractives, making this an exciting opportunity for someone ready to grow into a dual-organisation leadership role.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Proven senior leadership experience, ideally at CE level
  • Strong relationships with stakeholders across central and local government, regulators and the wider infrastructure and environmental sectors
  • Experience developing policy positions, influencing government policy and regulatory environments
  • Sound commercial and financial management skills
  • A practical, down-to-earth style, able to connect with operators large and small
  • A passion for health, safety and industry best practice

This is a unique opportunity to step into a sector leadership role with future scope to expand your influence across the wider extractives industry.
